Here in the office of the Career and Professional Development Center, we help students to prepare for their career in two ways. One, we help them to develop a strategy, set goals of what they would like to do, what they would like to pursue. The second piece to that is the professional development. Once we have identified what a student would like to do, we then start to do occupational research and try to understand what skills they need to develop. What networks do they need to have?
So NC Central University makes available a number of internship opportunities through many offices. So we're able to actually help students directly identify the intern company and to place them.
We have an amazing alumni network. We actually have an alumni mentoring program that's run through our office, where we pair students with an alum that is in a career of their interest. It's an opportunity for the student to talk frankly about what it's going to take to be successful in that particular career.
Everything that we do is to equip them with the skills and the knowledge that they need in order to adapt to an ever-changing market. NCCU definitely helps students to become market-ready.
